Brands Report 2022: Rum

The usual crowd have populated this year’s bestselling rum list. In fact, nine of the 10 brands remain a constant, with the first seven in the ranking identical to the previous year. 

Praphakorn Konglee from Thailand’s Find the Locker Room bar has won the Bacardí Legacy Cocktail Competition 2021 with is drink ‘Out of Sight’.

Bacardi has appointed Simon Owen as its new managing director for Australia and New Zealand which will be effective from April 1.

Bacardí has launched a 10-year-old golden rum called Gran Reserva Diez to the UK market with an RRP £52.

Ukrainian bar show Barometer is now one of the most influential in eastern Europe according to Bacardí global brand ambassador Dickie Cullimore.

Bacardi global chief marketing officer for Patrón and Grey Goose Lee Applbaum will leave the company after six years at the company.

Tequila sales are beginning to increase globally as Pernod Ricard, Bacardí and Diageo position themselves to profit from the trend.

Bacardí has released its rarest rum to date to celebrate the 150th anniversary of founder Don Facundo Bacardí Massó producing the light-bodied smooth rum.

Edwin H Nielsen (pictured), the great-grandson of Bacardi founder Don Facundo Bacardí Massó has died in Spain at the age of 93.
