Champagne is waking from its slumber in the vineyards of complacency but more needs to be done to claw back sales from other sparkling wines, according to Spiros Malandrakis of Euromonitor International. 

Champagne sales to the UK were down 5.1% in volume and 3.8% in value last year.

Happy customers across the UK enjoyed their first pints and non-homemade cocktails at the start of July as its hospitality sector reopened after months of lockdown. But normal service has hardly resumed.
