Chivas unveils The Glenlivet Cellar Collection 1973

17 November, 2009

Chivas Brothers single malt whisky The Glenlivet has unveiled the latest installment of its Cellar Collection range.

The 1973 Cellar Collection follows seven Cellar Collection releases over the past decade. Rolling out in the UK, Germany, Holland, Asia and the US between late 2009 and mid-year 2010, it will be priced at £800/$1,200/€900. It has been produced under the stewardship of newly appointed The Glenlivet master distiller, Alan Winchester.

This non chill filtered single malt whisky will be available in 853 individually numbered bottles, at a strength of 49%, which were drawn from the best three casks remaining in the distillery stocks from 1973.

Eric Benoist, international marketing director at Chivas Brothers, said: “Alan will be continuing a long tradition of excellence started by George Smith in 1824. The role of Master Distiller has been bestowed upon him in recognition of his many years of exceptional service to The Glenlivet and there is no one more qualified to take over the reins from Jim Cryle. To mark this moment in time, Alan’s signature will appear as a guarantee of quality on the 1973 Cellar Collection alongside that of founder George Smith.”
