New distribution company Freed From has launched, focused exclusively on bringing non-alcoholic wines, spirits and elixirs to the UK trade following a three-year global search.

More than 9,000 drinks from over 2,300 producers across 57 countries were assessed, with fewer than 4% achieving ‘Made The Grade’. 

Drinks that achieve Made The Grade are then considered for inclusion in The Freed From Collection.

The company was founded by Charles Davies, co-founder of The Link Asset & Securities Company, who, having lived alcohol-free for many years, became increasingly interested in producers creating exceptional drinks without alcohol. 

“I’ve been living alcohol-free for many years, so I know first-hand how much the category has evolved,” said Davies. “I became fascinated by the producers creating genuinely exceptional drinks, rather than simply alternatives to alcohol. That led me on a three-year journey of discovery, tasting thousands of non-alcoholic wines, spirits and elixirs from around the world, and ultimately to Freed From.”

Over the past three years, the most promising drinks have been assessed by The Independent Panel, bringing together leading professionals from across the international drinks and hospitality industries, including sommeliers and mixologists. 

The panel’s assessment followed a structured process of discovery, tasting, evaluation, grading and scoring, designed to assess each creation as a drinker will experience it. Wines were assessed under controlled tasting conditions, while spirits and elixirs were evaluated according to their producers’ recommended serves.

In addition to the full collection, Freed From is introducing The Liquid Edit, a considered selection of the Freed From collection for particular customers, environments and occasions. The Liquid Edit will be available in 100ml and 250ml formats, with 12 complementary drinks presented in customisable boxes designed by artist and designer Ben Rousseau.

The Freed From collection will be brought to trade buyers across the UK through Freed Distribution, the UK distribution company within the Freed From Group of Companies, which officially launches on 7 September 2026. Expansion into Europe will follow from 2027 through Freed From S.L.
