Kateryna Kryvystska of Kinara bar was crowned the Ireland champion of Hennessy MyWay in Dublin on Tuesday, 11 August.

Kryvystska’s drink, Bee Connected, was inspired by her move from Ukraine to Dublin and consist of Hennessy VS, acidic citric solution, honey syrup and rhubarb air.

“It’s so amazing, I thought that I wanted to do well in this competition but I didn’t expect to win because the other guys were so good,” said Kryvystska. “I can’t wait to represent Ireland in the global final, it will be a proud moment for me.”

As part of the regional final 10 bartenders from across Ireland spent two days in Cork visiting Ballymacmoy House in Killavullen, the historic home of the brand built by James Hennessy in 1810.

They then travelled to Dublin to take part in the final which was held at The Sugar Club in front of more than 250 supporting guests.

The judging panel consisted of former MyWay winner Millie Tang, last year’s regional winner Felipe Sanchez, brand ambassador Thierry Sales and Drinks International editor Shay Waterworth.

“The quality of every drink was impressive and I’ve never been to a regional cocktail competition with an audience so big, it felt like a global final.

“Kateryna nailed the brief. She demonstrated excellent knowledge of the brand and her drink had a lovely ritual, strong sustainable credentials and tasted great.”

Kryvystska will now feature in the global final of Hennessy MyWay which will take place across the Cognac region and Paris in October.
