Bartender-owner duo Yangdup Lama and Minakshi Singh’s new Hyderabad bar will open on 16 July.

Lama and Singh, in partnership with tech entrepreneur and founder of Red Rhino Brewing Co, Kishore Pallamreddy, will open the 75-seater bar in Hyderabad’s financial district.

Bar Stormy draws inspiration from the classic Dark ’n Stormy, made with dark rum, ginger beer, and lime, marking the duo’s first venture in South India.

“Hyderabad has grown into one of India’s most exciting cities, with a young and diverse community. The idea was to create a space that feels familiar from the very first visit. From the warmth of the wood and lighting to the music playing at a volume where you can still finish a sentence, every detail has been intentional,” said Singh.

At the centre of the space is ‘the’Yang’s Bar’, designed by Lama to make bartending faster, easier and more comfortable.

The 19-foot counter is divided into three identical workstations with Yang’s Bar being built at 36 inches, allowing bartenders to work in a more natural, upright position.

Lama adds: “After almost three decades behind the bar, I have realised that the best spaces are designed around interaction. A bar counter is where those conversations begin. This one is visible from every corner of the room, inviting guests to engage, ask questions, and become part of the experience rather than observe it from a distance.”

The open back bar offers a view of the prep-room, with the beverage programme at Bar Stormy featuring three divisions.

The first is 10 Stormy Signatures, inspired by the city and the region’s ingredients with drinks defined by a ‘mood meter’, such as homesick’s Southern Storm (pictured below), a take on curd rice, while friend zoned features a take on the Manhattan, called Stormy State.

The second section is 8 Timeless Tails, with cocktails that have travelled from the duo’s other four locations, Sidecar, Cocktails & Dreams Speakeasy, The Brook, and The Old House.

The ‘All Time Hits’ features serves such as Cilantro, Foghorn, and Yang’s Old Fashioned, with the offering also including four Dark & Stormy cocktails.

The food is inspired by tapas culture, with bar bites such as Wai Wai Bhel and Brie on Toast.
