Italian drinks brand owner Campari Group has entered an agreement with Ireland-based Cobblestone Brands to offload Bisquit & Dubouché cognac and Cabo Wabo tequila.
The acquisition, which is for an undisclosed sum, is expected to be completed by 31 October 2026.
“We have spent the past several years building a best-in-class route-to-market platform which will allow us to take great, but previously less-priority brands and give them the investment, focus and commercial firepower they deserve,” said Brian Fagan, chief executive and founder of Cobblestone Brands.
“Bisquit & Dubouché and Cabo Wabo are exactly the kind of brands we built this platform for.”
Bisquit & Dubouché was acquired by Campari Group from South Africa-based Distell Group, now Heineken Beverages, for € 52.5 million (US$62 million at the time of sale).
The brand has maintained its strong foothold in South Africa, one of cognac’s fastest-growing markets.
“Bisquit is one of France’s great Cognac houses,” said Fagan. “It has over two hundred years of heritage, an extraordinary Château in the heart of Cognac, and a loyal consumer base across multiple international markets. We believe deeply in its potential, and we intend to invest in it for the long term.”
Cabo Wabo tequila was launched in 1996 by Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar. Hagar later sold the brand to Campari Group in 2007 for US$80 million.
“Cabo Wabo is a brand that helped change the tequila category,” said Fagan. “It has authenticity, a remarkable story and a consumer loyalty that most brands never achieve. Bringing it onto our US platform – alongside our existing portfolio – will allow us to transform our ability to service all our distributor and retail partners in America and beyond.”
The acquisitions are the latest in a number of purchases by the Irish spirits group. In 2025, Cobblestone revealed the purchases of the Knappogue Castle and Clontarf Irish whiskey brands from Pernod Ricard.
“This is a transformational moment for Cobblestone,” said Fagan. “We are taking on brands with an extraordinary legacy, at a point where we have a rare opportunity to invest and build. We are excited about what comes next.”
