Sogrape acquires Stevens Garnier

01 November, 2011

International wine producer Sogrape has acquired 100% of UK wine agency Stevens Garnier. The company previously owned 38% of Stevens Garnier and financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Sogrape president Salvador Guedes said: “Stevens Garnier and Sogrape have a longstanding and successful partnership in the UK and Sogrape is delighted to make a full acquisition of the company.”

From November 1, Matt Douglas will join Stevens Garnier as managing director. He joins from the Argento Wine company where he was operations director.

Douglas said: “Stevens Garnier is about to enjoy a period of strong growth and I am much looking forward to working with the existing team, Sogrape, brand owners and customers, during this challenging and exciting new phase in the company’s development.”

Sogrape’s brands include Sandeman and Offley ports as well as Casa Ferreirinha wine and Constantino brandy.
