The Islay malt whisky will launch next month with an ABV of 48% and a recommended retail price of £49.99 for a 70cl bottle. The whisky will be stocked at selected outlets and availability will be limited.

Senior brand manager Bob Dalrymple said: “We expect demand for this rare addition to the Laphroaig range to be high among malt connoisseurs and collectors. Having been aged for an extra three years, it is being bottled at a higher strength of 48%ABV enabling us to avoid the chill filtering process.”

Only 65 bottles of Laphroaig 15 year old remain, and distillery manager John Campbell will be reserving them for the Friends of Laphroaig on a first come, first serve basis. There are more than 300,000 Friends of Laphroaig around the world.
