42 cocktails were entered into the Pinky vodka mixology contest.

The inaugural “Pinky Makes Drinks Better” competition was judged by James Roberton, Pinky President, Rachel Burkons, editor for Tasting Panel Magazine, and Natalie Bovis-Nelsen (aka The Liquid Muse). The judges chose best in show, plus a best drink for each season.

Best in Show was the Pinky Vespa, created by bartender Josh Valorosi, of Luna Park in San Francisco. Ingredients included Pinky Vodka, No. 209 Gin, Pacific Rim Vin de Glacière, and a Pinky-candied Myer lemon twist.

Seasonal choices were, for Spring, the Velvet Violet, created by Sean Serino of Bar Lubitsch in West Hollywood; for Summer, Jamaican Rose, created by Gabriela de Luma of Organic Panificio in Marina del Rey; for Fall, Pinky Couture, created by Mike Rosé of Ma’Kai in Santa Monica; and, for Winter, the Pinky Palmer, created by Chuck Meyer, also of Luna Park in San Francisco.

The 2009 competition will be open to mixologists from around world. The competition was held at Pinky’s owner Liquidity’s LA offices.
