Las-Vegas based Patron is set to launch its tequila into the Mexican market.
Although Mexico is home of tequila, Patron is only available in key resort areas. But in the first six months of 2009, COO John McDonnell said the brand will be ready for the whole market - with new tipping-proof bottles and a partner with an ‘ultra-premium mindset’.
Patron COO John McDonnell said: "We are using a Guala closure to ensure our bottles cannot be refilled with a cheap alternative and these will be used in the Mexican market as well as in selected other markets on our core SKUs. We are currently looking for a partner with an ultra-premium mindset and we anticipate launching in the first six months of 2009."
McDonnell doesn't anticipate massive sales. He added: "Our long term expectation is that the market will be worth about 50,000 cases a year."
Patron is celebrating 40 years in the business for Francisco Alcaraz, Patron tequila master distiller.
